Glenburn Tea Estate, Darjeeling

Glenburn tea estate offer tourists an exclusive boutique hotel. Guests can stay at Burra Bungalow, or the Glenburn Lodge on the banks of the River Rangit. It is high-end and overseas visitors are the biggest draws. Situated in the Glenburn Valley this tea estate is about 50 minutes drive from Darjeeling with amenities like four suites, each with a private sit out and 2 bedrooms in the simple Glenburn Lodge down by the River Rungeet. Most of the journey from Siliguri follows the course of the River Teesta, and just before one reach the bridge that takes Guest across the river to Sikkim, one begin the climb up towards Darjeeling, and then drive down into the Glenburn valley. The last 15 minutes of the drive, over about 3 kilometers is bit bumpy. Mesmerizing view of the hills and the river will certainly please the visitors. One can go rafting from here or visit Kalimpong or even drive to Gangtok. Ideally located and is having approach road from all the major tourist destinations of the region. Other places of interest nearby are Religious sites like The Ambhotia Shiva Temple, Giddapahar Durga Mata Mandir, Jagdish Mandir on Bank Road (on way to the Eagle's Craig), This temple has very old idols (almost 300 years old) of Lord Jagannath, St. Paulseak Church on Hill Cart Road, near St. Joshephs School, Buddhist Gompa in Montieviot, Buddhist Gompa in Dowhill Road and Juma Mosque in Hat Bazaar. Some of the natural sites to visit are Eagle's Craig, Deer Park - Now known as DowHill Park, The Kholas (Water Falls - Springs) like Whistle Khola (named by the Britishers, as there is a bend and the toy train whistles when passing through it.
