Bhalukpong

Bhalukpong the gateway to Bomdila and the Tawang Monastery is situated along the Kameng river. It is On the edge of the Pakhui Game Sanctuary. It is mystical wonder land village. One can enjoy jungle safari or even visit the Tipi Orchidarium nearby to view the varied Orchids. From Guwahati the route branches off the Guwahati - Shillong road and moves initially towards the Kaziranga National Park, and diverting once again, the road crosses the Brahmaputra to reach Bhalukpong. It is familiar with the tourist for its adventure sports like trekking, rafting and angling on the river Kameng. Preferable time to visit Bhalukpong is October to April. It is a mesmerizing place for wildlife enthusiasts, nature lovers, and an ideal destination for hikers, rafters and anglers. One can also visit Ziro in the Apatani plateau or the unique Namdapha National Park from here. Bhalukpong is a tourist hotspot. One can enjoy fishing and angling along the stretches of Kameng River and there is excellent scope of fishing mahsheer in the Jia Bhorali River. The annual festival of Nyethidow is celebrated in the month of March.

  • By Air – The state's airports are located at Daparjio, Ziro, Along, Tezu and Pasighat. However, owing to the rough terrain, these airports are mostly small and cannot handle many flights.Nearest airport is at Tezpur 52 kilometers drive from Bhalukpong. Guwahati is the major airport from Bhalukpong. Guwahati is well connected with rest of the country by air. Regular air connection is available to and from Kolkata, Delhi, Dimapur, Shillong and all other major towns of north East India and Bagdogra etc. Flights to Delhi, Bagdogra and Kolkata are regular and flights to other towns are bi weekly or tri weekly basis.
  • By Rail - Nearest railway station is at Rangapara. Guwahati to Bhalukpong nearly 250 kilometers and is 6 hours drive. From both Tezpur and Guwahati, trains to Rangapara and Bhalukpong are available.
  • By Road – Bhalukpong is 52 kilometers drive from Tezpur.Two major highway are the 336 kilometer National Highway 52, connects Jonai with Dirak. Another highway connects Tezpur in Assam with Tawang. All the places are connected to Assam. Each town has got its own bus station and daily bus services are available. Private vehicles are also available.
