It is located in the eastern part of Mizoram and is the district headquarters of Champhai. It is 194 kilometers from Aizawl, the capital. The climate is cool and healthy and the emerald town of Champhai offers a clean view of the hills of Myanmar. The town is a developing venue for Indo - Myanmar border trade. It is an ideal place for shopping of all kinds of imported goods. The legendary placid lake ‘Rih Dil’ is located 22 kilometers inside Myanmar from Champhai town. Champhai has charming patches of lush green paddy fields usually set in the valley between two hills and Champhai is popularly known as rice bowl of Mizoram but fast turning into a fruit bowl. Beautiful vineyards, passion fruit orchards and ‘Kiwi’ fruit plantations in the surrounding hill slopes provide a kaleidoscope of colors is worth.
The area is 3185.83 square kilometers and the elevation is 1678 meters. It has a background of rich heritage, scattered in small hamlets, villages dotted with monuments and monoliths that depict success in war, valorous hunting, personal distinctions and achievements.
