A hill station of Assam and the headquarter of the North Kachar Hills Autonomous District Council. Haflong is also the district headquarters of Dima Hasao district in Assam in the North East India. Haflong is one of the most beautiful places in the entire Assam state. The city lies at an altitude of 700Mts from the sea level. From Guwahati the distance of Haflong is 345kms and from Silchar Town the distance is of around 80 Kms.
Spilling down from a hilltop, it provides wonderful views of the nearby Borail Mountains. There is also a district museum with some interesting exhibits. Maibang is an ancient capital of the Dimasa people. The Stone House near the river is the only intact relic of the kingdom there, though other artifacts have been discovered during construction and are on display.
Haflong has two lakes to offer adventure lovers for boating. The lake of the Haflong is a real thrill. This has been situated at Haflong hill station’s heart. This lake is one of the biggest water bodies created by the nature in the Assam.The local language for the region is Dimashi. But Bengali, Hindi and English is widely spoken.
