Lunglei, a district headquarter town of South Mizoram. It is also the second largest town in Mizoram and is situated at a distance of 235 kilometers from Aizawl. It has great natural beauty of landscape and is rich in flora. The scenic beauty, cool pleasant climate and peaceful atmosphere make Lunglei a beautiful hill station in the south for tourists. There are two good picnic apots namely Khawiva and district park at Zobawk.
Lunglei literally meaning 'bridge of rock' got its name from a bridge like rock found in the riverine area around Nghasih - a small tributary of the river Tlawng. One of the most populous towns in the Mizo Hills located nearly 235 kilometers south of Aizawl. It has a biggest and unusual hall in the state called 'Saikuti Hall'. Most of the concerts and celebrations are held. Local painters demonstrate their skill and exhibit their works here in this hall.
