A historical hamlet in the west Sikkim was in limelight in the 16th Century A.D. Three great saints helped in coronation of the first “Chogyal or king" Phuntsok Namgyal. The site is marked by the original throne and a footprint on a rock face near the throne, presumably left by Gyalwa Lhatsun Chenpo. Yuksom offers adventure, trekking, leisure or cultural tour. The rich cultural heritage of Sikkim started from here. The misty, verdant forest and slopes of Yuksom beckons to explore their depths and discover many legends untold. It can also boast of having the oldest monastery, built in 1701 A.D. The surroundings are enthralling with little blooms, and smoky mist swirling among the branches, it is an experience that will enthrall all.
