Mayapur is situated 3 kilometers on the opposite of Nabadwip and 25 kilometers from Krishnanagar across the river Bhagirathi. Some Schools of thought claims this place to be the actual birth place of Lord Sri Chaitanya. The ISKCON temple of A.C.Bhaktivedanta, the Saraswat Adwaita Math and the Chaitanya Gaudiya Math are the important temples at Mayapur. During Holi (DOL) festival Rashyatra Mayapur presents itself as a center of harmony, amity, fraternity and festivity. Places of interest are Nabadwip, Mayapur, Shantipur, Palashi, Ballal Dhipi, Shivaniwas, Krishnanagar, Bethuadahari, Bahadurpur Forest, Hasadanga Beel, Mangaldwip Char, etc. One can visit nearby Ballal Mound, which is a reminiscent of Bengal king Ballal Sen and the tomb of Chand Kazi. Crossing River Ganga, visit Nabadwip and a round of all the nine islands is also part of sightseeing one can do. Krishnanagar has one more attraction i.e. One must visit the Ghurni Putulpatti which is an arcade for selling Mud Sculpture and this place is known for Making one of the best Mud Sculpture in the Country.
By Air - Nearest Airport is in Dum Dum, at Kolkata (Kolkata Airport), which is air linked with all major Indian and international cities. Mayapur is 140 kilometers by road to Netaji Subhas Bose International airport.
By Rail - Nabadwip is 110 kilometers from Sealdah on the Sealdah - Lalgola Section of Eastern Railway. From Sealdah one can take a train to either Krishnanagar or Nabadwip and then drive to Mayapur.
By Road - Mayapur is only 140 kilometers from Kolkata. Regular busses to Kolkata, Krishnanagar, Nabadwip, etc are available from National Highway 34. Private vehicle is the best option here.
